FAQs
Why does Scoreboard ask for my birthday?
Federal and state privacy laws now require apps to know a user’s age group so they can apply the right protections. We ask everyone once, including coaches and adults.
Do you keep my birthday?
No. Your birthday never leaves your phone. The app turns it into an age group, and that age group is the only thing we save. We have no record of your birth date.
I'm a parent. Why did my athlete text me a link?
Your athlete told us they’re under 13. A federal law called COPPA says an online service needs a parent’s OK before collecting personal information from a child that age. The link is how you give it. It takes about two minutes.
How do I know the text is really from Scoreboard?
The link opens a page on a Scoreboard web address, and it never asks for a password or payment. We confirm you by texting a one-time code to your phone. If anything looks off, contact us at [SUPPORT EMAIL] before doing anything.
What information do you collect about my athlete?
Their name and mobile number, the friends and family they choose to invite, what they sell or raise, and messages in their team chat. We use it only to run their team’s fundraiser.
Who can see my athlete's information?
Their coach and the Scoreboard team. We use trusted service providers to deliver the texts and emails your athlete sends to supporters. We don’t sell personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
What does my athlete's public fundraising page show?
For athletes under 13: a first name and a team mascot. No last name and no photo unless a parent approves this.
Can I change my mind?
Yes, at any time. Use the link in your confirmation email. Your athlete’s account is paused right away. You can also request help by contacting us through the Contact Us page.
How long do you keep this information?
We keep it for 5 years after the fundraiser ends, then remove it. We keep it for this amount of time due to the financial records tied to raising money. Accounts that were started but never approved by a parent are deleted automatically after 7 days.
What if my athlete is 13 or older?
Nothing changes. They sign up and fundraise as usual, and no parent approval step appears.
